It is very important to remember the 180 degree rule when shooting my film. This rule is when you visualise a line passing through both of the actors, and stay on one side of this line with all of your shots, as you can see in the picture below. Ignoring this rule is known as crossing the line or jumping the line. The main purpose of obeying this rule is to keep good continuity editing.
